About Pemberley Candles
Creative, Hands-On Candle Making Workshops
Pemberley Candles has been running relaxed, hands-on candle making workshops since 2018, inspired by years of enjoying creative workshops around the country. Our sessions are held in a Victorian schoolroom in Childwickbury, St Albans, creating a welcoming setting where you can slow down, learn something new and enjoy getting creative.
During each workshop, you will be guided through the candle making process, from melting the wax to selecting fragrance oils and dyes for your own scented candles. You will also have the chance to create wax melts, with options including colour, glitter and petals to give your creations a personal touch.
Alongside our regular workshops, we can arrange private sessions, corporate groups and one-to-one candle making experiences. Gift vouchers are also available, making a workshop a thoughtful present for anyone who enjoys crafts, fragrance or trying something different.
We also run a monthly two-hour workshop at Tewinbury Farm near Welwyn, which can be booked separately here.

Get the Best from Your Candles
Proper candle care helps your candles burn more evenly, last longer and stay safer to use. On the first burn, allow the wax to melt close to the edges of the container to help prevent tunnelling. Before each use, trim the wick to approximately 5mm and avoid burning your candle for more than three to four hours at a time.

Burning tips
- Keep melted wax free from matches, wick trimmings and other debris.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Avoid touching or moving a candle while it is burning.
- Keep candles away from flammable materials, heat sources and draughts.
- Keep burning candles safely away from children and pets.
- Stop using the candle when approximately 15mm of wax remains at the base.
- When burning several candles, leave enough space between them and keep the room well ventilated.
Extinguishing tips
- Use a candle snuffer where possible rather than water.
- Make sure the flame is completely extinguished before leaving the room.
- Allow the candle and container to cool fully before handling.
- Avoid using knives or other sharp objects to remove wax from glass containers.
